Sacra Propediem

Pope Benedict XV wrote Sacra Propediem for the 700th anniversary of St. Francis’ founding of his Third Order—those Franciscans who lived his rule in the world rather than withdrawing from the world. Benedict takes the opportunity to emphasize the key characteristics and charisms that the Third Order exhibits in its continuing service to the church and the world.
