The Bible on Violence: A Thick Description (Bible in the Modern World)

The range of papers in this volume exemplifies our commitment to irenic dialogue, representing as they do a breadth of scholarship in terms of both discipline and faith commitment (or none). They were presented at the inaugural academic symposium of the CSBV, held in June 2019. The first public event of a new academic institution is always a nerve-wracking affair: will sufficient papers of high quality be offered? We were delighted by the variety and quality of papers that came forward, and are pleased to have this opportunity to present many of them to the wider academic community in this volume.
